Designing for a new frontier of competition, Penn State’s first-ever eSports facility was conceived as a space where technology, performance, and community intersect.
More than a gaming arena, the facility was designed to give students a sense of belonging, ensuring they felt seen, heard, and connected within the growing collegiate eSports culture.
The space is flexible and future-forward, able to adapt to different gaming events, competitions, and training needs, while also accommodating coaching and mentorship.
Dynamic, color-changing lighting adds energy and excitement, creating an immersive environment that matches the intensity of play.
At its core, the design celebrates community—providing both players and fans with a space that fosters collaboration, competition, and pride in being part of Penn State’s newest athletic tradition.
As Senior Project Interior Designer, I led the interiors team in developing the design vision and execution for the University’s inaugural eSports facility. My role focused on creating a student-centered environment that balanced cutting-edge technology with social and collaborative spaces. I worked closely with University stakeholders to ensure the design was adaptable, dynamic, and reflective of Penn State’s innovative spirit, while fostering a strong sense of community and connection for students.
