This project was about creating consistency and comfort across the globe. The team developed comprehensive hotel design standards for U.S. Marine Corps properties worldwide, unifying brand and service expectations while allowing room for regional cultural expression.
Rooted in the concept of “Art to Empower,” the standards drew inspiration from the tools of both Marines and artists—strength, precision, and creativity.
The guidelines emphasize functionality, durability, and ease of use, while celebrating art and cultural authenticity as essential to welcoming environments.
The result is a roadmap for future hotel projects, ensuring service members and guests experience spaces that are comfortable, functional, and restorative, no matter where they are stationed.
As Senior Project Interior Designer, I led the interiors team in developing these new global standards. My role focused on balancing the functional needs of military lodging with the cultural and experiential aspects that create comfort. I worked closely with stakeholders to ensure the guidelines not only met operational requirements but also provided spaces that foster a sense of home, community, and consistency for service members across the world.

Inspired by art, and specifically the tool of the pencil this palette was inspired by graphite. Lines in the space are expressive, loose but made with purpose. Warm tones are infused throughout with the use of wood look materials and textures.
