Arkema

Project overview

Arkema’s new headquarters was envisioned as a space that embodies the company’s innovative spirit while uniting its workforce under one roof. The design concept was rooted in Arkema’s legacy of product development, with the team thoughtfully incorporating their own materials into the interiors wherever possible. This not only celebrated the client’s expertise but made the building itself a showcase of their technology.

The planning strategy was organized into neighborhoods, each with carefully placed collaborative zones that foster connection and support focused work. A modular approach to planning ensured long-term adaptability, allowing the workplace to evolve with changing needs. At the heart of the headquarters, a monumental stair connects three floors, serving as both a circulation feature and a symbol of openness and connection. The finish palette emphasized natural materials, accented with pops of color and texture to bring energy and personality to the space.

Role

My role began with developing the planning strategy and working alongside our workplace strategist to ensure that client goals were fully realized. As the project advanced, my role expanded to guiding the design team, providing oversight and mentorship to carry the vision through planning, design, and execution.

The result is a headquarters that balances functionality, sustainability, and innovation, creating a workplace that reflects Arkema’s identity while equipping them for the future.

Design Concept

The design for Arkema’s headquarters is inspired by the beauty of chemistry and the company’s legacy of innovation. Molecular patterns, organic forms, and dynamic connections guided both planning and materiality, resulting in a workplace that is adaptable, collaborative, and future-focused. Just as Arkema transforms raw elements into groundbreaking solutions, the headquarters reflects progress, creativity, and the seamless integration of science and design.
